The 58th Special Operations Wing

The 58th Special Operations Wing at Kirtland AFB is a unit of the Air Education and Training Command, an Air Force Major Air Command headquartered at Randolph AFB TX.

The wing’s mission is to train mission-ready Special Operations, Combat Search and Rescue, Missile Site Support, and UH-1 helicopter airlift crews.

The 58th Special Operations Wing operates two types of helicopters, three specialized versions of the C-130 four-engine turboprop aircraft, and the tilt-rotor CV-22 “Osprey.”

The 150th Fighter Wing of the New Mexico Air National Guard at Kirtland AFB has recently joined the 58th Special Operations Wing in a "classic" associate unit status, aligning elements of what will be called the 150th Wing of the New Mexico Air National Guard with the 58th Special Operations Wing, which is an active Air Force unit.

The Kirtland Partnership Committee considers the 58th Special Operations Wing as an organization of significant interest and worthy of focused KPC support due to its flying missions, the scope and breadth of those missions, as well as its size.
