Air Force Safety Center

Establishes and runs accident prevention programs for the Air Force.

  • Employs more than 125 military and civilian
  • Manages mishap prevention and investigation for all Air Force aircraft, weapons, reactors and space and nuclear systems
  • Develops ground safety programs to provide a safe working environment
  • Conducts five different formal safety training courses at Kirtland AFB, training nearly 2,000 safety officers annually
  • Publishes three safety periodicals with 58,000 copies distributed worldwide every year
  • Ensures that Air Force standards comply with federal laws in occupational safety and health areas
  • A Field Operating Agency of the Air Force, commanded by a major general
