Develops, demonstrates and transitions technologies and advanced
concepts to support evolving military requirements to control and
exploit space.
- Approximately 750 military and civilian employees
- Seeks to better understand space between the earth and sun and
its effects on military systems and operations
- Produces geophysical models and databases, design standards and
prototype hardware and software
- Conducts ground, airborne, balloon and space experiments to gather
data and demonstrate technologies and advanced military concepts
- Develops, integrates and demonstrates technologies for smaller,
lighter, cheaper high-performance spacecraft
- Develops and demonstrates technologies supporting space capability
protection including protection for natural and man-made threats
- An Air Force Materiel Command unit reporting to the Air Force
Research Laboratory in Ohio
