To "support, preserve and grow" Kirtland AFB, the Kirtland Partnership Committee
deals routinely with elected officials including:

An important element in our continuing
dialogue is the staff representing the elected officials. KPC ensures we are engaging and providing up to date information on issues of concern.

We are pleased to say that these elected officials in every instance understand the importance of Kirtland AFB to New Mexico.



Appointed Officials

KPC actively engages and communicates as required with important appointed officials including:

  • Secretary of Defense
  • Secretary of Energy
  • Assistant Secretaries
  • Secretary of the Air Force
  • Air Force Civilian Assistant Secretaries and Military Officers
  • State Cabinet Secretaries
  • Appointed Legislative Officials
  • Mayoral Agency Directors
  • County-Appointed Officials
  • And others

The KPC Board of Directors has over 100 members, including a 17-member Executive Committee.  

Additionally, elected officials including the Governor of New Mexico, the five-member New Mexico Congressional Delegation, the Mayor of Albuquerque and the Bernalillo County Commission Chair, along with the President of the Albuquerque City Council have traditionally been appointed as ex-officio members with their individual consent.

KPC Board membership is by invitation.   The KPC seeks donors as Board members whose monetary contributions help fund our work, and also individual military experts in various fields.
Additionally, Representatives of selected organizations are automatically considered members of the KPC Board of Directors by virtue of their position, and as long as they are holding those positions. 

These include entities such as the City of Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce, Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce, Association of Commerce and Industry, University of New Mexico, Albuquerque Public Schools, Albuquerque Economic Development, The Economic Forum, Mid-Region Council of Governments, National Association of Industrial and Office Properties and other similar organizations.

KPC By-laws require one Annual KPC Board of Directors Meeting in January each year.  Additionally, there is normally a summer Board meeting held.
